Pat was born in Atlanta,
Georgia, but also lived for a number of years in West Palm Beach,
FL, Lawrence, KS, and Victoria, British Columbia, before moving
to Columbia about 20 years ago. She studied psychology and geography
at Georgia State University and worked as a professional cartographer
(making maps) in Atlanta. She received her Ph.D. in geography
from the University of Kansas and taught cartography at USC before
she retired recently to become a full-time sculptor. At USC she
also had a joint appointment in the Women’s Studies program.
As a sculptor she has studied with Robert Allison, Britta Cruz,
Debra Fritts, Tuck Langland, Bruno Lucchesi and Kirsten Kokkin.
